Medicare beneficiaries are set to see their Part B premiums rise significantly next year, according to an announcement from the Trump administration.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) revealed late Friday that total monthly premiums for Part B will be $202.90. By comparison, the premium for 2025 was $185.
In addition, the deductible in Part B will rise to $283, up from $257 in 2025.
The CMS said in the announcement that the increase accounts for "projected price changes and assumed utilization increases that are consistent with historical experience." The agency said actions taken to reduce spending around skin substitutes in the Physician Fee Schedule averted an additional $11 premium increase.
The CMS also announced that deductibles and coinsurance for hospital stays are increasing in traditional Medicare, per the release. The deductible owed for an inpatient stay in 2026 will be $1,736, up from $1,676 this year.
That deductible covers the first 60 days of inpatient hospital care, and, from day 61 onward, beneficiaries must pay coinsurance. That coinsurance totals $434 per day, up from $419 in 2025, in a benefit period and $868 per day in lifetime reserve days.
For individuals in skilled nursing facilities, coinsurance kicks in on day 21 through 100 and costs $217 per day. That's up from $209.50 in 2025.
The vast majority (99%) of Medicare beneficiaries do not have to pay premiums as they have worked at least 40 quarters of Medicare-covered employment. For those who don't meet this threshold, premiums are increasing for 2026 in Part A, growing from $285 to $311 per month.
